Anzac Day

In room 13 we have been reading Anzac books. I have really enjoyed listening to them.

I have been learning about ANZAC day!! World War 1 was originally called the Great War. Princess Mary gave the soldiers boxes for Christmas during this war and when the soldiers came back they also got boxes and so did the nurses.

I have been learning about ANZAC day. The princess gave boxes to the people were going to the war or at the war. She spent thousands of dollars to make them. She gave them for Christmas.

This week in New Zealand and Austrailia on Sunday 25th of April is ANZAC day. It stands for Australia New Zealand Army Corps. Our class have been reading Grandad's Medals, The Bantam and the Soldier, A Present from the Past, Harry and the Anzac Poppy and Wearing the Poppy.
Me and Sammi my friend are going to Dawn Service on Sunday. This week I've learnt a saying that you say on Anzac day, "We Will Remember Them."

My favourite part abouy Anzac day is that we got to read stories about the war and we learnt about World War 1.


I am going to the Christchurch parade and the dawn service.
