Australasian Science Test

Alyssa here. I'm posting about the Australasian test. I was one of the ones to get Credit. I was doing the science one. The people who were doing it were Makenzie, Ashok, Ryan, Louis and me! Ashok was the other one who got Credit. I was doing year four science but we didn't have to actually do experiments. 'Cause there weren't actually science experiments. We were allowed a ruler, an eraser and a pencil. Mrs Simpson was the one who hosted it.We had to sit at different tables so we didn't copy off each other. There were 45 questions
that I had to answer and I answered all 45 of them. Some of them are really hard that I had think about some of them for 10 minutes well it might not have been 10 minutes but it sure felt like it! :).I was sweating cause I was so nervous. I had a lot of fun doing it and I hope that I can do it next year and maybe I'll do computers. It wasn't easy. I was thinking, how am I going to pass this test? but I knew most of the questions. And some of them were really easy. So I just trusted my gut instinct. And I passed it. It was so much fun but really hard at the same time.

The choir festival

Some people in our class are in choir and we got to sing at the Kaipoi choir festival with other schools including Belfast, Kaipoi North, Kaiapoi South and of course Woodend school. It was so much fun. My favourite song was Chatanooga choochoo and Proud Mary. Me and Carlee did a dance for Taku Papiwira. It's a skate song. We had so much fun wearing the skate clothes.

Enchanted World: Bizzy and the bedtime bear.

Author:Enid Blyton
Publisher: 2heads
The main character is Bizzy
The secondary character is Talon the evil troll
The setting is Sleepover Land
The main events are that Bizzy has to retrieve the Bedtime bear from a sleepie named Selena and the teddy bear is her only friend.
My ideas about the book are that I really like Enid Blyton books.
By yours truly, Alyssa.

Kaiapoi Music Festival (Choir)

On Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd of June was the Kaiapoi Music Festival at Kaiapoi Bourough school. It was AWESOME! The Woodend instrumental group came to play some music as well. After the concert we got chocolate fish & lollies. On Monday Mr Barber (principal of Woodend School) came to do some speaking and on Tuesday the principal of Kaiapoi North School came to do some speaking too. We sang: Proud Mary, Taku Papawira, Six Months in a Leaky Boat, Swing Low Sweet Chariot, Daisy Bell, This Train, Chatanooga Choo Choo, Row Row Row Your Boat, Yellow Submarine, Up Up and Away, Sailing, Little Deuce Coupe and the National Anthem. The other schools got to sing at least two songs of their own. Also the Kaiapoi North School instrumental group got to perform as well. It was a lot of memorizing, but it was the most funnest thing I've ever experienced in my life!!!!

Sporty Day!

Last Wednesday was a busy, sporty day at Woodend.

In the morning, all the students participated in the Cross Country. I was so impressed with how everyone joined in and gave it their best, whether they were running as part of a relay team or in the individual races.
Special congratulations to the following Room 13 students who did outstandingly in their age groups: Jenna (1st), Sammi (3rd) and Karl (1st) and Nic (3rd). They are all off to run at Kaiapoi tomorrow and Jenna will be competing in the Zones also. Awesome!

Later, in the afteroon, we all went to watch the senior soccer team play against Kaiapoi. A special TV crew were there to film it and we got to practise our awesome cheerleading skills!
